Writing Competitions for Children

Please note that this competition is now closed and we will release the winner’s details through our website and Facebook page by the 31st of October.

We are now running writing competitions for children and teenagers.

Our free to enter writing competition for adults has been so popular, that we decided to run a writing competition for younger writers, the Creative Writing Ink Young Writers Competition.

It’s free to enter. There are two categories; The first is the 12 and under category and the second is the 13-17 category.

We accept short stories or poems. They can be about anything and the competition is open to writers around the world, as long as your competition entry is in English.

Short stories shouldn’t be more than 2,000 words and poems no longer than 40 lines. One entry per person only please. So send either a short story or a poem. It should be original, all your own work and should not have won another competition.

When you’re sending your competition entry, please provide your age.

Prizes: The winner in each category will receive a book pack and their story or poem will be published on our website.

How to Enter: Email your short story or poem to info@creativewriting.ie. The subject line in the email should state “Creative Writing Ink Young Writers Competition.” We do not accept attachments, so please paste your entry into the body of an email.

The competition closes on the 30th of September 2014.

The judges’ decisions are final. No correspondence will be entered into.

Good luck!
