Submission Guidelines

• Open to published poets in early career, to support and encourage writing in Irish.
• Entries will be awarded for a book of poetry in the Irish language.
• The entrant must be an Irish national or be resident in Ireland for over two years.
• Must be the entrant’s second or subsequent book of poetry published in the last two years, i.e. 2023 – 2024.
• Only single volumes and not selected poems or collections are eligible for submission.
• Previous recipients of the Michael Hartnett Poetry Award are not eligible for consideration in 2025.

Prizes: The award of €8,000 will be made to the winning poet based on a second or subsequent book of poetry, published in the last two years, i.e. 2023 – 2024.

Deadline: The closing date for applications is Friday, 27th June 2025.
