Her first novel, Elizabeth and Zenobia, was shortlisted for the Text Prize and the Readings Prize and was a CBCA Notable Book, as was her second book, The Republic of Birds. Her third novel, The Hotel Witch will be released in February 2023. She has taught creative writing for adults and children in Brisbane, Berlin, and London.

Embark on an exciting journey of creativity with our Creative Writing Course designed specifically for children. Module 1: Creative Writing for Children

Module 2: Adapting for Children
Tailored to each child’s unique interests, this module encourages them to explore their favorite stories and understand what makes them captivating. By rewriting these tales, young writers will uncover the magic of storytelling firsthand.
Module 3: Writing Characters for Children
Young authors will learn the art of character creation in this module, focusing on crafting engaging protagonists. Concepts such as character motivation and personification will be introduced to spark imagination.
Module 4: Writing Villains for Children
Building upon the previous module, children will explore the intricacies of villainous characters. Through interactive activities, they will grasp techniques like juxtaposition to create compelling antagonists.
Module 5: Writing Settings for Children
This module transports children into the realms of vibrant settings. By employing all five senses, they will learn to breathe life into their environments, whether real or imagined.
Module 6: Your Own Story
In the final module, young writers will unleash their creativity by crafting their own stories. Guided by core techniques in description and editing, they will embark on the thrilling adventure of storytelling.
