This award marks Michael Hartnett’s contribution to literature in English and Irish.
The poetry award is awarded in alternate years to books of poetry in the Irish and English language. In 2014, it will be made to a poet writing in English.
The award of €4,000 will be made to the winning poet based on a third or subsequent book of poetry, published in 2012-2014.
The 2014 adjudicators are Theo Dorgan and Moya Cannon.
The award will be announced and presented to the winner at the opening of Éigse Michael Hartnett on the 10th of April in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick.
