The Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition 2014 closes on the 1st of May 2014.
Lorian Hemingway, granddaughter of Ernest Hemingway, is the author of Walking into the River, Walk on Water, and A World Turned Over. Ms. Hemingway is the competition’s final judge.
First prize is $1,500 and publication of the winning story in Cutthroat: A Journal of the Arts. Second and third: $500 each. Honourable mentions will be awarded to entrants whose work demonstrates promise.
They are looking for stories of no more than 3,500 words in length. No theme or genre restrictions. Open to writers around the world whose fiction has not appeared in a nationally distributed publication with a circulation of 5,000 or more. Writers who have been published by an online magazine or who have self-published will be considered on an individual basis.
It costs $15 per story to enter.
