She Reposes in Jeopardy
Agnibeena Ghosh
She pulled her hair out of the ground
The grass
yellow and green
Stuck to her fingernails
They prayed to the earth
As they stomped over her withering limbs
Withering away
She clung on for dear life
Skies passed over her head
Dawn into dusk
Dusk into dawn
Days caressed her as they passed by
Winter saw her bloody fingers
And dried them
Blue and black
Her palms gripped the soil
A marionette of the night
Pulled her strings apart
Hair strewn over the ground
Her petals decompose.
