The San Animal Santuario in Spain rescues abandoned dogs and cats, finding new homes for them in other parts of Europe.
Writers Sue Johnson and Cathy Zelenka have set up a writing competition to raise funds for the animal shelter.
Send short stories by 31st of July 2014. No more than 1,000 words. Entry fees are £5 per story or £12 for three.
Prizes: £100, £50 and £25.
