CRITIQUE SERVICE

Creative Writing Ink provides a critique service for short stories, poems, books and screenplays.

Our authors will read your work objectively and provide a full critical assessment of your manuscript.

How much does it cost?

(a) Poetry; €60 for critique of up to 3 poems

(b) Short stories/children’s fiction; €55 for critique of short story (maximum 3,000 words)

(c) Short stories/children’s fiction; €75 (3,000-5,000 words)

(d) Adult fiction, non-fiction and children’s fiction; €125 (maximum 120,000 words)

How do I pay?

Payment can be made with a credit card through paypal or by cheque. Please email info@creativewriting.ie if you wish to pay by paypal and we will forward you payment details.

What is a critique?

The report will aim to provide the following;

• Comment on narrative, characterisation, plot, pace, dialogue, style.
• Comment on manuscript faults and suggestions as to how this may be remedied.

How do I submit my manuscript?

  • Please email your manuscript to info@creativewriting.ie
  • Please ensure that your manuscript is typed in 12 point font, double spaced with page numbering.
  • Please ensure that your name, telephone number and email address are included on the title page of your manuscript. Please also state the word count of your manuscript.
  • If you prefer to send your work in the post, that is no problem. Please print your manuscript on A4 paper send it to Olive O’Brien, Creative Writing Ink, 35, Granary Hall, Mount Oval Village, Rochestown, Co. Cork, Ireland.
  • We will acknowledge receipt of your manuscript by email. We will obviously take very good care of your manuscript. However, please ensure that you have a back up copy.
  • Please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish the manuscript to be returned to you, or let us know if you are happy for us to recycle your manuscript.
  • Please contact us before you send us your manuscript if you are unsure whether our service would be right for you or if you have any other queries.

  • The report can be sent to you via email or post, so please indicate which you would prefer.
  • We reserve the right to return your work and payment if we are unable to place it with a suitable author/editor.
  • We cannot guarantee the length of time a report will take, but will do our utmost to ensure that the report arrives within three weeks.
  • We are unable to provide a report unless we receive the appropriate fee with the manuscript.
  • All correspondence will be treated with the strictest confidence.
  • We take great care of the manuscripts but we cannot be held responsible for loss of a manuscript in the post. So please always keep a back up copy
  • The copyright of your work will remain yours. The copyright of the report will be with the author who provided the critique and permission should be sought for its use.

- Typing service; Have you written your manuscript in long-hand and need a typing service? Please contact us for a quote.

-  Website design; Our designers can design and host a website for you, to help you promote yourself to publishers and agents effectively. These websites are based on templates specifically designed for authors.

If you would prefer a website which is fully customised to your liking, India Drummond, will discuss your design ideas and project with you. In addition to being a published author, India has worked as a professional web designer for ten years, taking on freelance projects as well as corporate design with Coljam Consultants Ltd, a UK based consultancy firm. - Blog setup; If you don’t require a static website, we can set up and customise a blog or website through WordPress, a popular and easy to learn system. This  is aimed at anyone who doesn’t have a budget to hire a web designer and who would like to set up their own web presence including;

• writers and artists
• start-ups
• small businesses
• non-profit organisations
• clubs and groups 
• businesses/individuals who have a static website and who would like to add WordPress as a blog to their website.
• or any individual who would like a web presence

- Design Services; Need professionally designed letterhead or a logo for your blog or website? We provide a full design service, from the design of letterhead, compliment slips, business cards and logos.

Prices:  Business Card (2 sided) €50; Bookmark €40; Logo design €90; Letterhead €40; Full Stationary Set (Logo, Business Card, Compliment Slip and Letterhead) €200 

- Social media; Social networking sites, such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are important tools to help writers maintain an online profile. The price to set up accounts on all three social networking sites is €30.
